The oil on paper is of cattle lazing on the beautiful Gearagh, near Macroom in County Cork. The Gearagh is one of the largest alluvial forests in Europe and is still dotted with many narrow channels of slow moving waters. This place is a haven in every respect and is a wonderful place to walk at any time of year, given that the wilderness is a refuge for all types of wildlife. The Artist has spent so many hours there and has many fond memories of being there at all different times of the day.............morning bird song, the stillness of a balmy Summer's day, the magical sunsets, the sounds of the rain...
