The Artist was commissioned to undertake this work for a very special person. This was the first time that the Artist had done a detailed bird study for years and the first in colour. He executed it in coloured pencil, graphite pencil and colour wash on graded paper. The goldfinch is a beautiful colourful bird and holds a very special place for nature-lovers everywhere. This art piece was being presented to a very special grand-dad, from Cork city, for his eightieth birthday. Long may he enjoy it.
