Years ago the Artist first visited the Aran Islands and he feels that was the first time that he came across ridges in a green pastured field from potatoes that had been grown there years before. This painting also reminds him of beautiful memories of visiting his grand-uncle Sonny on their small holding south of Dunmanway and helping him dig and bag the 'spuds' for his father.
